Open Call
De Open Call Track & Trace kadert binnen het fotofestival Track & Trace, dat loopt van 13 maart 2021 tot en met zondag 25 april 2021 in Kortrijk. Het fotofestival toont beelden en verhalen van bekende en onbekende, lokale, nationale en internationale fotografen, rond het thema Track & Trace, die te zien zijn op erfgoedlocaties en in de publieke ruimte in Kortrijk.
In de schoot van dit festival lanceren we de Open Call Track & Trace voor Belgische documentaire fotografen die een vinger aan de pols houden bij de actualiteit en de maatschappij. Met deze wedstrijd zoeken we samenhangende series van hedendaagse fotografen, die een verhaal vertellen met de werkelijkheid als uitgangspunt. De rol en de positie van de documentaire fotografie is steeds in verandering. Ook die veranderingen willen we tonen.
Het fotofestival Track & Trace nodigt uit om een recent afgewerkt documentair fotoproject voor te leggen aan een professionele jury. Het werk van de vijf laureaten wordt tentoongesteld tijdens de duur van het Fotofestival Track & Trace. De inzendingen worden specifiek beoordeeld op hun actualiteit, oorspronkelijkheid en vakmanschap. De jury bestaat uit vertegenwoordigers van de geschreven pers, de uitgeverswereld, de fotomusea en de initiators van het festival.

SELECTIE
Een selectie wordt gemaakt door de jury op basis van het digitaal dossier. De anonimiteit blijft tot aan de definitieve selectie behouden. De jury kan één of meerdere werken selecteren uit de inzending. De jury bepaalt de definitieve selectie voor de tentoonstelling.
De jury bestaat uit Jozef Lievens (voorzitter PxL en initiator van het festival) voorzitter, Gautier Plateau (uitgever Hannibal/Kannibaal), Lieven Lefere (fotograaf en curator T&T), Jan Desloover (chef beeldredactie/De Standaard), Sofie Crabbé (auteur, criticus Hart magazine) en Rein Deslé (curator FOMU). De inzendingen worden specifiek beoordeeld op hun actualiteit, oorspronkelijkheid en vakmanschap.
De vijf geselecteerden krijgen een productiebudget van 500 EUR voor het printen van hun werk. Het werk van de vijf laureaten wordt tijdens het fotofestival in de Paardenstallen geëxposeerd.
De winnaar krijgt de ROOTS prijs (aangeboden door Roots Advocaten, Kortrijk), ter waarde van 5000 EUR. De tweede prijs is een geldprijs van 1500 EUR (Stad Kortrijk). En de derde prijs is een printprijs, ter waarde van 1500 EUR (Fotorama).
DEELNAME
Inschrijven voor deze wedstrijd kan vanaf donderdag 8 oktober 2020 tot en met zondag 15 november 2020, door het online inschrijvingsformulier (stap 3) in te vullen. Deelname aan de wedstrijd is betalend. Uw inschrijving is definitief na betaling van 15€ administratiekost.

Elke inzender kan deelnemen met min. 5 - max. 15 werken. De afbeeldingen (2040 pixels langste zijde /72 dpi) van de werken (losse beelden) worden samen met een beschrijving (max. 1blz.) van de reeks en een biografie, maar ook de presentatievorm (afmetingen, dragers, manier van inkaderen, materie) geüpload bij het inschrijvingsformulier via Wetransfer naar eva.vieren@kortrijk.be . Gelieve uw naam niet te vermelden in dit dossier, dit vanwege de anonieme jurering.

The Open Call Track & Trace is part of the Track & Trace photo festival, which runs from March 13th, 2021 to Sunday, April 25th 2021 in Kortrijk. The photo festival shows images and stories of known and unknown, local, national and international photographers, on the theme of Track & Trace, which can be seen at heritage locations and in the public space in Kortrijk.
Within the scope of this festival, we are launching the Open Call Track & Trace for Belgian documentary photographers who keep their finger on the pulse of current events and society. With this competition we are looking for coherent series by contemporary professional photographers, who tell a story with reality as a starting point. The role and position of documentary photography is constantly changing. We also want to show these changes.
The Track & Trace photography festival is inviting you to present a recently finished documentary photography project to a professional jury. The work of the five winners will be exhibited during the Track & Trace photography festival. The entries will be judged specifically on their topicality, originality and craftsmanship. The jury consists of representatives of the written press, the publishing world, photography museums and the festival’s organisers.

SELECTION
A selection is made by the jury on the basis of the digital file. The anonymity is retained until the final selection. The jury can select one or more works from the entry. The jury makes the final selection for the exhibition.
The jury consists of Jozef Lievens (chairman of PxL and initiator of the festival), Gautier Plateau (publisher Hannibal / Kannibaal), Lieven Lefere (photographer and curator T&T), Jan Desloover (chief image editor/ De Standaard), Sofie Crabbé (author, critic Hart magazine ) and Rein Deslé (curator FOMU). The entries are specifically judged on their topicality, originality and craftsmanship.
The five selected candidates will receive a production budget of 500 EUR for printing their work. The work of the five laureates will be exhibited in the Paardenstallen during the photo festival.
The winner will receive the ROOTS prize (offered by Roots Advocaten, Kortrijk), worth EUR 5000. The second prize is a cash prize of 1500 EUR (City of Kortrijk). And the third prize is a print prize, worth 1500 EUR (Fotorama).

The images (2040 pixels on the longest side / 72 dpi) of the works (separate images) are presented together with a description (max. 1 page) of the series and a biography, but also the presentation form (dimensions, carriers, way of framing, material) uploaded with the registration form via WeTransfer to eva.vieren@kortrijk.be . Please do not mention your name in this file, because of the anonymous judging.
